“For who listens to us in all the world? ... To whom can anyone say – Here I am! Behold me in my
nakedness, my wounds, my secret grief, my despair, my betrayal, my pain, my tongue which
cannot express sorrow, my terror, my abandonment. Listen to me for a day – an hour – a moment
lest I expire in my terrible wilderness, my lonely silence!”
In the more than 2,000 years since Seneca wrote this, the yearning to feel truly heard and
understood - without fear of judgment, rejection, or indifference – endures as a human need. I
believe that healing and change are best nurtured in safe and inclusive spaces where there is
empathy and trust, and where we actually feel seen.
My therapeutic style is therefore a person-centered one that integrates a strong interpersonal
process approach with existentialist elements. My practice also integrates techniques from other
treatment modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment
therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing, and mindfulness practices. I also firmly believe in the
importance of empowering clients by providing them with information about the issues that they
are experiencing, as needed.
I don’t assume the role of making choices for my clients. Instead, I work collaboratively with clients
to explore and deepen their understanding of themselves, their relationship experiences past and
present, and the issues they bring to therapy, so that they feel equipped to make their own choices.
What do you want? What do you want from therapy? What do you want in your relationships? What
do you want from yourself, from life? Who do you want to be? What are you prepared to do to
achieve the change you desire?
As a limited licensed counselor with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from
Bowling Green State University in Ohio, I work with adults experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma,
grief, life management concerns, and relationship issues (however, I do not however provide
couples counseling). My scope of practice also includes gender-based concerns and issues
impacting BIPOC individuals, immigrants, expats, and students.
