Lauren Birks (she/her) received her Master Degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan in 2017. While completing her MSW she was part of the Master’s International Program. This was a collaborative program with the Peace Corps, in which Lauren served as a Youth Development Volunteer in Costa Rica.
 

For 5 years Lauren worked as a School Social Worker in Hamtramck Public Schools, which allowed her to work with and support students and families from various ethnic, cultural, and
socioeconomic backgrounds. She provided services to help students improve their executive functioning skills, positive coping strategies, emotion regulation, as well as, empowering them to advocate for themselves.

 

She is a fully licensed clinical social worker. Lauren values being a source of support and advocacy for youth and young adults as they navigate coping with anxiety, depression, trauma,
and other mood related challenges. She is passionate about working with people of color to provide a safe space to be authentically themselves.
