Lauren Birks (she/her) is a dedicated licensed clinical social worker in Michigan and Texas, with a passion for working with youth to middle-aged adults from diverse backgrounds. Holding a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan, Lauren's commitment to her field is evident through her years of experience as a School Social Worker, including five years in Hamtramck Public Schools. Over the years Lauren has provided services to help students improve their executive functioning skills, emotion regulation, positive coping strategies, as well as, empowering them to advocate for themselves.

During her MSW program, Lauren participated in the Master's International Program, serving in the Peace Corps as a Youth Development Volunteer in Costa Rica for two years. This international experience reflects her global perspective and dedication to making a positive impact on communities.

Lauren specializes in working with clients who may have anxiety, depression, ADHD, unresolved trauma, and various day-to-day stressors. Her therapeutic approaches, including cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, motivational interviewing, and trauma and grief component therapy, showcase her versatile skill set in addressing a range of mental health concerns.

A firm believer in the benefits of therapy, Lauren encourages everyone to try it at least once, emphasizing the importance of having an objective source of support. Lauren's focus on creating a safe space for people of color and women to authentically express themselves underscores her commitment to inclusivity and cultural sensitivity. She believes in empowering clients to be leaders in their therapeutic journey, guiding them through growth and self-discovery.

Beyond her professional life, Lauren enjoys traveling, crafting, nurturing her plants, spending quality time with family and friends, and cheering on her Longhorns and Wolverines!
